Hey guys and gals,
Welcome to my blog! Here’s a bit of an introduction to who I am and why I’ve started Finding X.
I’m a 23 year old Kiwi girl living in a cute little (or big by Auckland standards) house in Auckland’s beautiful Orakei/Remuera area. I work as a Marketing Executive and 90% of the time I love my job. I have an unwavering passion for travel, cheese is my favourite food (Brie, Camembert, blue, haloumi, cheddar – I don’t discriminate!), I love binge watching TV shows (Suits is my current pick), I can read a novel in about three hours and my secret talent is rapping. Seriously!
I’ve decided to get this thing up and running because I’ve been having a bit of trouble figuring out exactly what I should be doing at this stage in my life and what path/paths I should be taking. I think this is probably pretty common at 23 so if you feel the same way, let me know in the comments below and make me feel like less of a failure.
I’m a walking cliché, the embodiment of the millennial generation – I want to be successful by the time I’m thirty, I want to be fit but suck at waking up at 5.30am to go running, I want to see the world but four weeks a year and minimal savings (thanks, Auckland rent!) don’t seem to go far, and most of all I want to be happy but sometimes life gets in the way. Don’t get me wrong, I totally understand all those wants take a bit of time and a lot of hard work, but I’m impatient and just want to get. shit. done.
I thought maybe writing about my experiences about figuring out how to be a successful adult in this overwhelming world might help me see where I should be and what I should be doing. This blog will probably be a bit of organised chaos – you’ll read about my Kmart obsession, my neurotic worries about being poor forever, my search for an exercise regime that doesn’t make me want to die, and of course my never-ending wanderlist. Warning: There may also be some rants about bad grammar, ignorant people, the world’s political events and bad parents (not mine!).
At the very least it’ll hopefully give you some good travel tips and a bit of a laugh! Thanks for reading and enjoy the blog 🙂
